Being an art piece collector, Wan reserves a lot of white wall space for the homeowner to display his collections. The design makes use of high-quality textured materials like wood, stone, black chrome stainless steel, and wrought iron to interweave a design language that goes beyond a standard minimalist style. The modest cool color scheme of grey, brown, and black is consistently used to set organic accents.
Eco paint in a white finish was used to complete all the walls so that the art collections could make a statement for themselves. Considering the location of the abode by a greenery mountain, which could be relatively humid, Wan has chosen stone-like materials that are in a laminated finish, making them more durable and well-sealed to withstand the humidity. The use of stainless steel also eases the maintenance needed for this pet-friendly home in the long run.
The design uses a variety of wood combinations and natural textured elements to contrast the white walls and showcase the artwork collection. An overall homogenized sense is established across the whole residence. The project was completed in 2019 in Hong Kong, and Wan worked alongside project manager Cindy Chan and assistant interior designer Jeffrey Chu to bring this design to life.
This design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. It meets professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics. The design provides fulfillment and positive feelings, contributing to a better world.
